The letter U for me was always going to be Underworld. Some of the best times I've had have involved Underworld gigs (Glastonbury performances). But which of their back catalogue to chose. I plumped for the epic and and insistent Pearl's Girl from their "Second Toughest In the Infants" Album for the simple reason that I am not aware of a finer stream of consciousness committed to vinyl. Absolutely no idea of what may have been going through Karl Hyde's mind when he wrote this and yet it evokes strong memories of golden sands and distant shores. The title is actually the name of a greyhound that finished second on the bands trip to the dogs at Walthamstow. Served up here is the full nine and a half minutes of loveliness, and Old Man Einstein's crazy in his attic..........
